Road Map to the 7th Plane, 2019
Road Map to the 7th Plane is a pocket-sized, illustrated, accordion book that I designed, printed, and bound during my senior year at Wesleyan.
The text is sampled from a Theta Meditation on Youtube that a friend recommended to me.
. . .
To create the front and back covers, I laser engraved these designs into a piece of MDF board that was later dyed with jet black ink.
The book measures about 3 x 4 x 0.5 inches. Its inner pages were digitally printed on white ultra-fine paper and glued together with PVA. Some pages feature transparencies, hibiscus-dyed rice paper, and holographic film which are abstracted in the digital animation below.

Originally, I intended to create a more polished version of this book during my final semester at Wesleyan using rolled ink, letterpress, some handset type, and laser-engraved acrylic blocks, but unfortunately, we had to evacuate campus due to COVID and that wasn’t possible… yet ;)
In the meantime, you can explore the digital book below.
